HSP Service to Sport Awards

December 5th, 2018

#TeamHerts Volunteering attended the Service to Sport Awards on 27th November, as part of the judging panel for several awards. The Service to Sport Awards is a flagship event in the Herts Sports Partnership calendar. It brings together the inspiring projects, clubs and individuals that make up the sport and physical landscape of our county.

The awards celebrate the commitment that volunteers bring to the sector.

#TeamHerts Volunteering has contributed to the judging of a range of awards, in which the scores were tallied with other judges. Awards included:

  • Nadine Mehta Unsung Hero Award – Winner – Simone Robinson, Royston Town Youth
  • Disability Coach of the Year – Winner – Andrew Catherell, Cricket
  • Community Coach of the Year – Winners – Chris Samways and Frances Nicholls
  • Community Club of the Year – Winner - Stevenage Starlets FC
  • Community Project of the Year – Winner - Play Rangers

Kat Shepherdson, Project Manager of #TeamHerts Volunteering, says: “Volunteering is a crucial part of so many aspects of our lives, none more so than sports groups. So many groups rely on the enthusiasm and dedication of a few to bring the sport they love to so many. It was wonderful to be asked to be one of the judges at the HSP sports Award and read so many stories and see how many amazing volunteers there are in Hertfordshire.”
